And if it doesn't happen for you right away
如果它没有立刻实现
it's only because the universe is so busy fulfilling my order
那可能是因为宇宙太忙于满足我的愿望
My father could have been a great comedian
我父亲本来有能力当一个伟大的喜剧演员
but he didn't believe that was possible for him
但他认为实现这个的可能性太渺茫
and so he made a conservative choice
他于是作出保守决定
Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant
获得了一份会计的"安全"工作
and when I was 12 years old
在我12岁那年
he was let go from that safe job
"安全"工作却让他失了业
and our family had to do whatever we could to survive
整个家庭废了好大力气才存活下来
I learned many great lessons from my father
我从父亲那里获得了很多经验教训
not the least of which was that you can fail at what you don't want
包括做不想做的事你很有可能会失败
so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love
因此 你应当冒点风险 去做你热爱的事
I can tell you from experience
我可以从个人经历出发告诉你们
the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is
你能对他人产生的影响 是世上最有价值的通货
And that's when my search for identity deepened
我从这里深化了对自我的探索
I wondered who I'd be without my fame
我心想 抛开名气的话 我是谁
Who would I be if I said things that people didn't want to hear
我会是谁 如果我说的东西人们不想听
or if I defied their expectations of me?
如果我违背了他们对我的预期
What if I showed up to the party without my Mardi Gras mask and
如果我参加派对不戴嘉年华面具
I refused to flash my breasts for a handful of beads?

I'll give you a moment to wipe that image out of your mind

But you guys are way ahead of the game

You already know who you are

and that peace, that peace that we're after

本视频是喜剧演员金·凯瑞在玛赫西管理大学2014年毕业典礼上的演讲。金·凯瑞是加拿大裔美籍演员，在好莱坞被誉为“好莱坞喜剧天王”。演讲中，金·凯瑞谈到说自己的父亲本来有天赋演喜剧，结果却为了安全保险选择了一份不喜爱的会计工作，结果最终失业。他鼓励学生，不要因为恐惧而不敢选择自己所热爱的事业。
