然后风筝就越飞越远，你知道没有多久，这个美丽的小家伙就会挣脱你绑在他身上的束缚，尽情翱翔在天空，自由自在。
那时，你就知道了，你已经完成你所应该做的事了。
Children Are Like Kites
You spend years trying to get them off the ground.
You run with them until you’re both breathless.
They crash.
They hit the rooftop.
You patch comfort, and sure that someday they would fly
Finally they are airborne…
They need more string and you keep letting it out.
They talk and the each twist of the twine
there is a sadness that goes with joy.
The kite becomes more distant,
and you know it won’t be long before that beautiful creature will snap the lifeline that binds you two together
and will soar as it is meant to soar, free and alone.
Only then do you know that you did your job.

你花了好几年，试图让他们起飞。
你跟他们一起跑，直到你们都累得气喘吁吁。然后，他们突然垮了，跌落在房顶上，你要去安慰他们，持平他们的创伤，向他们保证说，他们有一天一定能飞起来的。
