西雅图大学演讲与辩论锦标赛（Seattle University Speech and Debate Tournament）现已开始报名。

报名时间：10.1-11.10

比赛时间：11月18-19日

比赛平台：Zoom

辩论分组：

Elementary (Pro-Con)

Middle School (3 on 3 Parli)

High School (LD debate), or Congress debate

演讲项目：

SPEAKING EVENTS: Extemp, Impromptu, PowerPoint, Platform, Interp.

辩论与演讲项目同时进行，参赛者不能同时参加两项比赛。

小学组辩论（Pro-Con）

ELEMENTARY PRO CON DEBATE

1. 辩题：

Elementary Topics (November)

• Round 1 & 2: Schools should give very little homework to elementary students.

• Round 3: We should use more nuclear power to address climate change.

2. 规则：

💌小学组参赛者的年龄范围：8-12岁。

💬宣布辩题后有10分钟的准备时间。

• Pro 1st speaker: 3 minutes (presents pro case)

• Con 1st speaker: 3 minutes (presents con case)

2 minute cross-fire between the 1st speakers

• Con 2nd speaker: 3 minutes (responds to pro case)

• Pro 2nd speaker: 3 minutes (responds to con case)

2 minute cross-fire between the 2nd speakers

• Con 3rd speaker: 3 minutes (shows why winning con case, defeating pro case)

• Pro 3rd speaker: 3 minutes (shows why winning pro case, defeating con case)

2 minute cross-fire between the 3rd speakers

If either team has a 4th speaker—then add

• Con 4th speaker: 3 minutes (shows why winning con case, defeating pro case)

• Pro 4th speaker: 3 minutes (shows why winning pro case, defeating con case)

2 minute cross-fire between the 4th speakers

• Each debater explains why they think their side won the debate: 45 seconds each.

• Weighing Speeches: Each debater explains why they think their side won the debate: 45 seconds each (weigh the key issues).

MIDDLE SCHOOL 3 ON 3 PARLI DEBATE

1. 辩题：

Middle School Topics (November)

• Round 1 Topic: The justices of the Supreme Court of the United States ought to be term-limited.

• Round 2 Topic (you take the other side): The justices of the Supreme Court of the United States ought to

be term-limited.

• Round 3 Topic: Impromptu topic #1。

2. 规则：

💌初中组参赛者年龄范围：10-14岁。

💬宣布辩题后有20分钟的准备时间（30 minutes prep for impromptu topics）

• Prop 1st speaker: 5 minutes (present prop case)

• Opp 1st speaker: 5 minutes (respond to prop case and present opp case)

• Prop 2nd speaker: 5 minutes (defend prop case, respond to opp case, if time, add to prop case)

• Opp 2nd speaker: 5 minutes (defend opp case, defend responses to opp case, respond to new points)

• Opp 3rd speaker: 5 minutes (show partners’ won the opp case and defeated the prop case)

• Prop 3rd speaker: 5 minutes (show partners’ won the prop case and defeated opp case)

• POIs (questions/short arguments) allowed in ALL speeches for the middle 3 minutes of the speeches.

• Each speaker must take two POIs except they do not take POIs requested less than 30 seconds aftertaking a POI.

• When there is an impromptu topic for a debate, logic and reasons should be given just as much weight as a debater citing a study/statistic/fact.

HS-LD辩论（LD Debate）

HIGH SCHOOL DEBATE

1. 辩题：

We will use the Nov-Dec NSDA Topic:

Resolved: The United States ought to prohibit the extraction of fossil fuels from federal public lands and waters.

2. 规则：

💌高中组参赛者的年龄范围为：13-18岁。

• Before you start, establish and actually do your means for sharing evidence (google drive, drop box,one drive, email chain, etc.)

• First Affirmative: 6 minutes

• Negative questions Affirmative: 3 minutes

• First Negative: 7 minutes • Affirmative questions Negative: 3 minutes

• First Affirmative Rebuttal: 4 minutes

• Negative Rebuttal: 6 minutes

• Second Affirmative Rebuttal: 3 minutes

• Each side has 4 minutes of preparation to use when they wish except in the middle of questioning or speeches.

国会辩论（CONGRESS DEBATE）

CONGRESS DEBATE

1. 辩题：

辩题将在比赛开始前一周左右公布。

2. 规则：

• Each speech is 3 minutes.

• The first pro and con speech on each topic will have a 2 minute questioning period broken into 4 blocks of 30 seconds for direct questioning. And all other speeches will have 1 minutes for questions.

• We have two sessions that are 1.5 hours long.
