And down the river's dim expanse- Like some bold seër in a trance, Seeing all his own mischance- With a glassy countenance Did she look to Camelot.
那河的水面上幽暗昏沉-像个恍惚的勇敢占卜人，预见到自己的全部不幸-她那木然而呆滞的眼睛遥望着那卡默洛特。
And at the closing of the day She loosed the chain, and down she lay;
天光将冥的茫茫暮色里，她解开船索，躺下在船底；
The broad stream bore her far away, The Lady of Shalott.

Lying, robed in snowy white That loosely flew to left and right-

The leaves upon her falling light- Thro' the noises of the night She floated down to Camelot;

For ere she reach'd upon the tide The first house by the water-side, Singing in her song she died, The Lady of Shalott.
她随波逐流地一路漂去；没漂到岸边第一幢屋子，已在自己的歌声中去世，女郎夏洛特。
Under tower and balcony, By garden-wall and gallery, A gleaming shape she floated by, Dead-pale between the houses high, Silent into Camelot.
白糊糊的身影显得惨白，让船带着漂过塔楼、跳台；她无声地漂过圆墙、阳台，漂过耸立在两岸的高宅，就此漂进卡默洛特。
Out upon the wharfs they came, Knight and burgher, lord and dame, And round the prow they read her name, 'The Lady of Shalott'
都拥到码头上看个究竟，爵爷和夫人、骑士和市民，在船头上读到她的芳名：‘岛上的女郎夏洛特’
Who is this? and what is here?

And in the lighted palace near Died the sound of royal cheer;

And they cross'd themselves for fear, All the knights at Camelot;

But Lancelot mused a little space; He said, "She has a lovely face;

Lord Alfred Tenyson：丁尼生，是华兹华斯之后的英国桂冠诗人，也是英国19世纪著名的诗人之一。其131首的组诗《悼念》被视为英国文学史上最优秀哀歌之一，因而获桂冠诗人称号。其他重要诗作有《尤利西斯》、《伊诺克·阿登》和《过沙洲》诗歌《悼念集》等。
